World of Warplanes is a multiplayer online arcade flight simulator in the historical setting surrounding World War II. It was announced by Wargaming.net on June 7, 2011 in Los Angeles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The official released is for September 25 for the countries in CIS countries and September 26 in Europe and North America.
History:
In June 2011 Wargaming.net announced the game World of Warplanes and published an article on the World of Tanks website, the first part of which stated that the gameplay, overall global map, and financial system would be similar to World of Tanks. In August 2011 Wargaming.net announced that the game was in early alpha-testing and opened the official forum. This was followed by a few details about the game as well as a trailer submitted to Gamescom 2011. The alpha version of the game was shown for the first time at Igromir, a Russian sly stealth video game convention. The games's Lead Designer, Ivan Kulbich, a Nikitova Games employee, revealed the developers' plans about alpha testing and its participants. According to DotMMO, the game entered global alpha testing on February 23, 2012. In May 2012, the game entered closed beta testing, according to the official World of Warplanes website. In June 2013, it was announced that on July 2, 2013, World of Warplanes would enter open beta testing and would be using tokens as a temporary replacement for gold before its official release. On July 2, 2013, World of Warplanes went into open beta in North America and Russia, and on July 4 in Europe.On August 20, 2013, World of Warplanes announced that it will be released on September 25, 2013 for CIS countries and September 26 for Europe and North America.
